MY FATHER IS A CONSTRUCTION ENGINEER
[September 28th, 2022] I am the daughter of a construction father. The profession that is associated with bricks, stones, and cement is hard and hard in the minds of most people. I write about my father's profession not because this profession has also become my passion, but because of his dedication to the profession, the way he works and the way my father loves his job. It is these things that have become a source of positive energy and have a significant influence on my working style. And with this article, I want to share with you about the working qualities I learned from my dear father!
Accuracy is very important in construction industry
From a young age, many times I saw my father spend hours studying construction blueprints. In my impression, construction drawings are like a big book and quite a lot of pages. Every time I see my father working, I am curious to see what he does, in the eyes of a child at that time what I saw on those large pages were lots of squares, rectangles, arrows and numbers.
Then, of course, I had absolutely no idea what a house would look like from that drawing. But for a construction engineer like father, such drawings are a very important first step. My father always carefully considers each technical parameter on the drawing, calculates and evaluates whether such a design is appropriate, accurate or not. Because, my father once said: "It's easy to fix on paper, but it's much harder to fix when it's done when you find out what's wrong." And to this day, I still remember my father's working motto: "Do it right the first time."

Construction is not for impatient people
In construction, people like my father have mostly experienced times of being urged to speed up the construction progress. Therefore, the pressure to ensure construction progress is always one of the common problems that construction workers have to solve.
Depending on the size of the project, a professional like my father must have solutions to the problem in many different ways, both to satisfy the Investor and to ensure the quality of the work. However, there is one thing that I always see in my father that is patience, not because of being urged but to be in a hurry, to do it carelessly. Keep a calm attitude, listen and patiently advise technical issues in the most understandable way so that the Investor understands that it takes a certain time for the new construction to be sustainable over the years.

Ensuring safety and quality is the measure of workmanship
Construction is considered a dangerous profession, as workers always have risks of occupational accidents. However, I have never seen my father think of quitting his job because he was afraid of the risks.
For my father, just ensuring and implementing all the rules of work safety, those risks will not have the opportunity to appear. From the smallest rules such as about work clothes, to the rules of construction techniques, all must be accurate. Once again, the accuracy in construction becomes especially important, because if the quality of the work is not guaranteed, the engineers and builders themselves will be the first to bear the risk. My father shared that: "A quality project is not only after the completion of the homeowner's satisfaction, but also the safety of the entire crew during the work."

Although my father's job is not a big job or admired by many people, construction has always been a respectable profession for me! And I, currently working in a completely different job, but the qualities I learned from my father are accuracy in work, patience and a high regard for quality of work that have really helped me a lot.
