VIETNAM CONSTRUCTION MARKET, THE 63-YEAR JOURNEY OF DEVELOPMENT
Over 63 years of building and developing, Construction in Vietnam has undergone remarkable changes; transformed in how it is thought of, the ways action is taken; and with unwavering efforts, overcome countless challenges and achieved outstanding results. Affirming its role as one of the key economic markets, it heavily contributed to the country’s socio-economic development.
According to VnEconomy, in 2020 there were more than 75.000 firms, specialized in the construction sector operating in the whole country, attracting more than 4 million labors, contributing 6.19% of GDP and 0.5 percentage points to the total added value of the whole country’s economy.
Vietnam has the advantage of having a high quantity of labor, especially skilled construction workers. At the same time, Vietnam’s construction enterprises have undergone a breakthrough development, tapping into and mastering cutting-edge technology, evaluating its capacity in the constructing field. The building materials market also thrives, especially in the new, high-quality materials sectors that are qualified for domestic uses and can be exported to more the 80 countries. With all these advantages, Vietnam Construction Industry is competent enough to construct key national projects, varying in different fields like civil, industrial, infrastructure and is internationally competitive.
Especially, after getting hit by the Covid-19 pandemic outbreak, Vietnam has shown remarkable resilience, received admiration from around the world. Since then, Vietnam’s image and position have also been raised to a new height. Vietnam’s enterprises, in general, and Vietnam’s Construction Sector, in particular, is now more confident answering invitations to become the General Contractor for large domestic and international projects, showing its competency in competing with foreign Contractors, developing infrastructure with 3 elements: economy – environment – society harmonized. This really is a positive sign for the construction industry in Vietnam.
